Hola! Feliz Martes!
Today, I’m sharing one last peek at recipes from my new cookbook and we are going to be making salsa de aguacate (avocado salsa)!
It’s been 3 months since the book was published, and the love you have all shown for the book has been overwhelming–and I really appreciate it! The book has been featured in the New York Times, in the LA Times (multiple times!!!), internationally and just recently, in the Wall Street Journal! If you would have told me a few years ago that in the future my work would be featured in the LA Times, NY Times, or even the Wall Street Journal, I would have said you were crazy!
This salsa comes from the first chapter in the book titled “The Essentials”. In the first chapter you’ll find recipes for things like my Mole Colorado, Jalapeños en Escabeche (Pickled Jalapeños), four different bean recipes, two different rice recipes, three different BBQ Sauces (you have to try my hibiscus bbq sauce!), and 4 different salsa recipes! This was one chapter I poured a lot of energy into. I wrote the book with homesickness in mind so a lot of the traditional recipes I showcase throughout the book (Frijoles de La Olla, Pozole, Birria, Refried Beans, Mole etc.) are recipes I wish my mom would have been able to give me when I was homesick and first learning how to cook! The salsa de aguacate is part of my “Salsa Trio” that I like to call my snacking salsas. These three (roasted chipotle salsa, salsa verde, and avocado salsa) have the perfect amount of heat where you are able to snack on them without having to worry about burning your tongue off but can easily add more heat by throwing an extra pepper or two in the mix. The avocado salsa is a fresh raw salsa that comes together in about 5 minutes. It is really creamy, and gets some nice tang from the tomatillo and fresh lime juice, and the raw green onion and garlic cloves give it some extra bite. This salsa is one of the salsas I make regularly, and it is perfect on just about anything (like my flautas de rajas con queso!)
If you’ve never made salsa before, join me for my salsa making class! I just launched my next set of virtual cooking classes last week and here is what I have going on for the rest of the year:

December 23, 2020 at 12:52 pmGreat recipe, but yeah, I guess the water could be listed with the other ingredients. Some of us don’t think we need to read the whole recipe. 😉
Thank you for sharing!
Do you have a Youtube channel?

Thank you 🙂

January 12, 2023 at 4:31 pmI made this and it was amazing! I had to omit the cilantro though as I’m not a fan of the taste, but otherwise, this was perfect, and I’ll definitely make it again!
