La Mangonada (Frozen Mango Margarita)

La Mangoneada: Frozen Mango Margaritas!

Hola! Happy Thursday! Today we’re making frozen Mango Margaritas with a chamoy swirl! I figured since the end of Summer is right around the corner, and I’m turning in the manuscript for my second book next week, this would be a great way to celebrate and hold onto what’s left of this warm weather!

This recipe was actually inspired by one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants, Chevy’s! It’s where my Husband and I had our first few dates, and where we would go for Happy Hour whenever I had a rough day at the office. It’s not the most authentic, but their frozen margaritas were always perfect, they were creamy, and not overly sweet. In my take on the frozen mango margarita (that I called La Mangoneada), I decided to ditch most of the ice and sub in frozen mango chunks, it packs the margarita with more mango flavor, but also adds that creaminess factor I love!

How to make them:

These frozen mango margaritas are pretty simple to make, and are inspired by the classic frozen treat called the “Mangoneada”, sometimes called a chamango, depending on who you ask . The mangonada consists of scoops of mango sorbet topped with chunks of mango, chamoy, and Tajín, and if you wait long enough for it to soften, you can actually drink it!. You simply add all of the ingredients to the blender (add an extra swig of tequila or mango nectar if you’d like them a little more loose). Once your margarita mixture is blended and smooth, add a drizzle of chamoy to the bottom of your glass, then add another drizzle of chamoy, then top it off with the margarita base. I like to garnish the margaritas with fresh diced mango, tajin, and a banderilla (spicy tamarind straw), but you can leave them as is, and just finish with a simple umbrella. I’ll be leaving a clip below so you can follow along!

Pair these margaritas with my Mole Coloradito Pulled Pork Sliders!

That’s all I have for today! If you get the chance to make these over the weekend, don’t forget to share your pictures with me and tag me! Nos vemos pronto!
